THE BRAND STORY

Meet the team behind The PR Gals brand.

THE LOGO

Laura Stead Laura Stead
The logo and PRG symbol were created by fashion journalist and freelance graphic designer Laura Stead. A woman of taste and an eye for detail, Laura mastered the logo brief first go. Her brief was:

“The logo must be absolutely timeless, classy, sophisticated and elegant. As this is a PR brand and we deal with the media the logo should reflect the fonts, look and feel of high-end magazines that have stood the test of time.”

THE PHOTOGRAPHY

Each PR Gal chose to work with her favourite photographer. Here is there story...

Douglas Kirkland - Katrina's Portrait

The man behind PR Gals director Katrina Witham's portrait, Douglas Kirkland, is one of Hollywood's most renowned photographers. Kirkland has been the invited special photographer on films such as The Sound of Music, Out Of Africa, Michael Jackson's Thriller video, Titanic and Moulin Rouge. He is also famous for his portraits of Hollywood's leading ladies including Marilyn Munroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and more recently Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman. Kirkland was in Australia in late 2010 for the launch of his retrospective exhibition at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). When Katrina found out, she had to ask him the question - would he have time to shoot her while in town? The ever so kind Kirkland, who always travels with his camera and happened to pack the perfect lighting for the shoot, agreed to.

The shoot took place one overcast Tuesday morning and just like when Kirkland shot Marilyn, Katrina drank bubbles to keep the nerves at bay. Kirkland treated her just like a movie star and was extremely thorough. A true gentleman and beautiful soul, Kirkland still has so much passion for his craft and is devoted to encouraging other's in their dreams.  You will see a notable resemblance of Katrina’s photo to one Kirkland took of Audrey Hepburn many years ago. To Katrina’s delight he even titled the final proof “Katrina as Audrey”.

Matt Leasegang - Tina's Portrait

One of Australia's most versatile photographers, Matt is known for his ability to capture and create images in almost any genre.
He will go to any length to get the shot and prides himself on capturing those moments when his talent doest not even know he is shooting. Wanting to become an absolute master of his art, Matt is currently working towards achieving his Australian Institute of Professional Photography's Master Photographer level. A beautiful soul, he has the ability to make his subject feel completely at ease in front of the lens. It is this that attracted Tina to commissioning him to undertake her portrait.

The shoot took place one rainy Wednesday evening in PR Gal director Katrina's kitchen. Tina's hair and wardrobe was styled by John Charles, and after a few sav blancs she settled into the shoot! While a number of outfit changes, positions, actions and styles were shot, "the one" was captured in the first set. Matt loved the pic as he said it captured Tina's vibrant spirit.
